TICKRIX

Setup

Five minutes, once.

There is no app to download and no account to create. You give the device your WiFi, tell a browser tab which assets you want, and then you don't think about it again.

The whole process

Three steps, in order.

Plug it in

USB-C in the back. The battery version wants a charge before its first run. The device knows which variant it is and behaves accordingly.

Give it your WiFi

On first boot Tickrix broadcasts its own network, Tickrix-Setup. Join it from a phone or laptop, open 192.168.4.1, enter your home network name and password, save. The device reboots and shows its ID.

Pick your assets

Open tickrix.com/app, enter the device ID from the screen, choose your exchange and up to 20 assets. The device picks the change up within about five seconds.

Data source

Choose the venue you trade on.

The setup tool lists MEXC, Binance, Bybit, Kraken, Coinbase and LBank, all on free public endpoints. Pick one and your crypto prices come from there.

If your provider isn't listed, choose Custom API and supply the endpoint, an optional key, and the path to the price field in the response. There is a test button, so you'll know it works before you save it.

When something goes wrong

The three things that trip people up.

— 01

5 GHz-only networks

Tickrix uses 2.4 GHz. If your router presents both bands under one name and refuses to hand out 2.4, split them temporarily, complete setup, then merge them again.

— 02

Changed WiFi password

Click the BOOT button four times quickly, then hold for three seconds. That clears the stored network and reopens the setup hotspot. Your exchange and assets survive the reset.

— 03

Captive portal won't open

Some phones suppress the automatic pop-up. Type 192.168.4.1 into the address bar yourself, and disable mobile data for a moment so the phone doesn't route around the hotspot.

Setup questions

Asked and answered.

Does it work on 5 GHz WiFi?

No. Tickrix uses 2.4 GHz, which every home router broadcasts alongside 5 GHz. If your router merges both bands under a single network name, you may need to split them temporarily during setup.

What if I change my WiFi password?

Click the BOOT button on the device four times quickly, then hold it for three seconds. That clears the stored network and reopens the setup hotspot. Your exchange and asset choices are preserved.

Can I use an exchange that isn't in your list?

Yes. The setup tool accepts a custom API endpoint, an optional API key and the path to the price field in the response, with a test button before you save.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Setup happens in a normal browser tab at tickrix.com/app, on a phone or a computer. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.
